biography

Born on an army base in Virginia, Amy was raised in Morocco, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Belgium. She returned to the U.S. for college and later began freelancing out of The New York Times' D.C. bureau.
Amy was awarded a Fulbright grant while completing her master's degree in photography at the School of Visual Communication, Ohio University. This led her back to Morocco, where she produced Behind Walls, a portrayal of life at a rural girls' dormitory. This series has been recognized by Critical Mass-Top 50 Photographers 2006, The Griffin Museum of Photography, The International Museum of Women, The Photo Resource Center, and is featured on photobetty and SocialDocumentary.net
Another body of work, from Cambodia, is highlighted on Verve Photo: The New Breed of Documentary Photographers, The Travel Photographer and selections were exhibited at Panopticon Gallery, in Boston. This project was supported by a grant from the Center for Southeast Asia Studies at OU.
Also while in Ohio, Amy received the Paul Schutzer Memorial Award for advanced documentary work and was a featured photographer in National Geographic Magazine.
